First Harvest 2008
Posted July 19th, 2008 by Anonymous
Mother of the Harvest, we give you thanks and here attest.
Our hearts are full and so are our bellies, all of our jars are filled with jellies.
We now reap what we have sown, in our hearts it is well known.
You bless our table and our lives, without You we could not survive.
Three stalks of corn tied to the tree, a simple offering to Thee.
Sharing the bounty You provide with the creatures peeking from where they hide.
Circles formed and candles lit, reveling in this bliss, we're tightly knit.
Our hearts reach out in union to Thee, as blue jays chirp among the trees.
A blazing fire is now lit, with our intention we here submit.
Fill our hearts as You have filled the trees, with fruits of wisdom to be at ease.
In Your loving light we grow, as have now the seeds we've sown.
As the days grown ever shorter, let our sorrows wain with every quarter.
Oh gentle Mother we give You thanks for joining us here in our ranks.
Mother of the Harvest be at our side, for You have ever been our guide.
As this day comes to a close, the smell of bread baking on the breeze will flow.
The first slice we place beneath the apple tree, our hearts have now been set free.
